What are we doing here?

Death magnifies everything. For survivors its potent, character clarifying and often lays waste to parts of our mind and emotions.

I’ve lost so many people; my mother, father, grandparents, friends and classmates. The one thing all these deaths have in common is that I wasn’t prepared for them. Even when we knew death was on its way the process and repercussions were soul shaking and surprising.

I know so much more about driving than I did about the predictable aftermath of my Mom’s death. What happened to my mind the inevitable family drama, legal entanglements and bureaucratic  nightmares were all predictable and still all of it caught me off guard.

That’s what we’re doing here. Those of us who’ve been caretaker, son, daughter, friend, parent, spouse, executor and witness need to share our stories so when the inevitable comes it’s not unknown territory. We’re here to share stories and find folks who understand.

As this site grows we’ll start mapping the territory through stories. It’s all about the stories.

Good things ahead,

Jason
